To see the work of Alexander, click here: Jeremy Barnard's mastery encompasses, in the words of one ARTSHIP visitor, "a manic range" -from documentary to manipulated, from nostalgic to surreal. And like other artists represented in this E-gallery, he guides our eye to focus on the commonplace , the transitory, the moment-- frozen and glowing, special, amazing. In terms of technique: some images represented are gelatin silver prints, others are scanned through to a digital image which is laser-printed and hand-tinted. When printed on rice-paper, the result has the feel of an old print found in a scrapbook, while the content may border on bizarre. Meticulous and professional in his attitude towards paper, equipment and the permanence of the print, Barnard issues a contract with each print stating the dates it was photographed and printed, its edition and condition. Barnard lives and works just north of Boston, MA, but accompanies his camera to the far raches of the planet to capture images of the extraordinary.
